Digital Transformation: Progress to a Digital Marketing plan, embrace Technological advances

Why is Digital Transformation relevant to me and my business?

Digital Transformation in its simplest form means looking at the processes and activities of your company in conjunction with the Digital Technologies available to help you improve, streamline and maximise the way you do business. Your customers’ experience and interactions with your business should continually be considered.

Digital Transformation is a process; it can be stopped and started in line with strategic needs and new technology. It is not about changing or replacing things just because a technology exists. It is about fully leveraging the technologies available to help your business in your industry in a way that is useful to you and your company.

Don’t be scared; you’re ‘walking/talking digital’ without knowing it!

It can sound rather scary, but if you look at just a few of the things that you do every day you will see how much you have already embraced the Digital Transformation process, email, being the most obvious one, running a website, using accountancy software. These would all be considered part of the Digital Transformation process, although it did not have a snazzy-sounding name when email was invented!

Another example that is being driven by both the banking industry and customer expectation which impacts all companies is the death of cheques. Banks don’t want people to use them; I don’t think I even have a chequebook anymore!? So if customers are no longer paying by cheque, what facilities have you put in place? Cash? There is certainly less of that in circulation now. Allowing them to call with their card details while you input their credentials into a PDQ machine? Or have you considered bank transfers or integrated an online payment system either via your accountancy software or an extra function added to or integrated with your website?
